A Special Update from Dad Shows
Baby’s here
It’s official: Dad Shows is written by a dad.
Maeve Roman-Mathews was born Oct. 6 at 6:10 pm, weighing in at 8 lbs 6 oz. She’s the most perfect little creature ever devised. Baby, mom, and dad are all happy and healthy.
I’m no longer only describing the Dad Shows mindset; I’m now living it, too.
Posts will resume ASAP once I’m able to go from changing diapers for 20 hours a day to 18.
In the meantime, I have a Dad Shows rec for you: The Last Frontier on Apple TV+. Jason Clarke as a U.S. Marshal trying to track down escaped fugitives in the Alaskan wilderness while getting caught up in a CIA conspiracy. It feels like an NBC show in really fun ways. It comes from the creator of The Blacklist, and definitely has a similar tone and ethos. No “ten hour movie” b.s. here — episodes are fast-paced, and, you know, episodic. Each one is about a different fugitive, one of whom is randomly Johnny Knoxville (playing a character, to be clear; he’s not doing “Hi, I’m Johnny Knoxville and welcome to The Last Frontier”). I was having a good time watching it, but I haven’t finished it — my wife went into labor with three episodes left and we haven’t found time to go back. I think that’s gonna be happening a lot.
