I am a movie guy (and also a car guy). F1 is deeply-flawed but also strangely compelling. Chalk it up to enjoying aging stars go for it one last time. Or Kosinski's big-screen prowess. Or Idris and Condon and a bonkers Javier Bardem. Or Hans Zimmer's score mixed with jukebox deep cuts. I can't unpack why I've seen it twice in one week. Maybe it's pure Dadcore bubble gum. Pitt's performance is...unique, to say the least. And the movie drags in the second act. And yes it's a commercial for the ultra-wealthy's sport of choice. But damn if I didn't dig it.

Javier Bardem is so funny in this. He's not bad, exactly, he's just not someone who I ever would have thought of for this role. "Bonkers" is a good way to put it. And Kerry Condon is fantastic, the heart of the movie. I really did enjoy watching the movie, just not as much as I hoped I would.

That's fair. Like I said, I think the script is at-time cringey (Combat! Combat!). But you've said you don't go to the movies much, and F1 dragged you to a theater. Viewed from that perspective, it did its job.
